The program also ensures opportunities for full development and good chances for the future of the child. It is developed as a continuation of a three-year joint program of the Tulip Foundation and the Oak Foundation that built the capacity of local civil society organizations to support children and families in order to prevent violence, abuse, abandonment, and placement of children in social institutions.

The Worldwide Orphans Foundation partners in the implementation of “The strength of the family and 
the community” program in five places in the country, where the program “Element of Play” is applied as one of the main activities with children and parents. The project locations are in the city of Varna, in the village of Kalitinovo (Stara Zagora Municipality), in the town of Targovishte, in the town of Sofia, and in the village of Gorno Cherkovishte (Kazanlak Municipality). The program is well received by families and local partners because it aims at supporting early childhood development and the positive relationship between children and their families. That is why it was recognized as appropriate and applicable in this new type of service for working with marginalized communities. The Program is impactful to all community members, improving the quality of connections and relationships among them.
The Worldwide Orphans Foundation supports “The strength of the family and the community” program because we believe in the power of play and the importance of the relationship between children and their parents. We believe also that through play every child can get to know the world, driven by curiosity and desire to explore. The “Element of Play” program was created with the understanding that adverse childhood experiences cause trauma that can cause children to miss important stages in their development and have lasting negative consequences in their lives and a cumulative effect on their communities.
ELEMENT OF PLAY® program is implemented in communities with different cultures, different needs, and usually with very limited resources. It adapts to different conditions with the main aim of providing access to experiences and learning through play, as well as opportunities for adults to learn how to support their children’s development in order for communities to function united and healthy.
